Thursday, May 30 update

Shifting in the periodicals continues.  We are to Journal of Infectious Diseases.  Stack labels are posted and app updated.

Monday afternoon we hope to start weeding books!  I won't have much to say about that, but looks like a change of pace coming soon.

Wed. may 29 shift update

We continue to work on the periodicals.  The first stack set (row 1 - 16) is complete.  We are in the I's now.  So far we have created about 10 empty shelves.  Leaving quite a bit of growth space.  this work will probably slow down a bit starting next week as we begin to work on the withdrawal of books.  This will take the students away from the shifting which is fine.

Thanks and have a great day!

Wednesday, May 22 update

Sorry for the delay in posting.  Here are the latest updates:

As of Monday about 11:50 the R's all made it up to the third floor.  So no more split collection.  Yuri is on vacation so the catalog may not get updated for a bit.

The Aux Ref books are also on the move across the aisle.  They will reside after the legal reference books.  This will empty that entire side for the Public Library move.  This will be finished today (wed.)

The next focus in on moving the periodicals (again!)  With the JSTOR removal, there is plenty of space.  We really do need to make this move in an effort to create space in some of the tighter areas where I left scant space.  Also this may free up some areas to look at a totally new arrangement of the spaces.  This will likely be the last major shift of the collection this summer as we move to starting the withdrawal process in June.  For note we have shifted into the 3rd range of the periodicals.

Tuesday, May 14 update

Shifting on third continues:

Have moved books back to TD.  Good change to complete the T's on Wednesday.  Guys are doing a great job!

Now, is anybody reading this?  If so, what is your opinion on shifting the periodicals?  As you know we removed the JSTOR titles that were duplicated in print.  Worth shifting?

Thanks!

Monday, May 13 shifting update

we're back!  After a hiatus for exam week, the shifting has resumed.  Today we moved about 110 shelves of books (about 275 linear feet)!  Working with three new students who will be busy completing various shifting projects, weeding and various other things.  Today we moved books back into the TL section (car books)  We are about half way done along the wall that runs along the west study rooms.  Likely finish that side tomorrow.  There's a chance we will start moving the RA's up starting on Friday.  Early next week for sure.

Signs are all updated on the stacks.  As usual, please see me if you have questions.
